Amla Uses and Benefits
Amla is one of the most often used herbs in ayurveda. It is a powerful rejuvenating herb. The Amla fruit is reputed to have the highest content of vitamin C than any other naturally occurring substance in nature. Amla is a natural efficacious and this is an antioxidant with the richest natural source of Vitamin C.The process of totally digesting amla guarantees that any foods eaten at about the same time are also entirely digested. Potentially allergenic proteins are broken down, and the net effect is "cooling," stopping the slow autoimmune reactions that generate inflammation all over the body.Amla has a medium sized tree, which ranges from 20 - 25 foot. It possesses yellow-colored flowers that blossom from February to May. Its fruit is greenish yellow in appearance, which is available from October to April. It generally occurs in the area 4500 ft. above sea level. Plant part used is fruit.
Cure skin disorders: It is very useful in skin diseases as it has sheet virya in potency. It inhibits pitta and thus helps in getting relief from all the skin disorders caused by pitta dominance. Regular intake of Amla promotes glow on skin and delays wrinkles or loosening of skin.The use of Amla fruit (Emblica officinalis, Phyllanthus emblica) has been a fundamental part of India's practice of Ayurvedic Medicine for centuries, and is one of the planet's most concentrated sources of natural vitamin C.1 And despite centuries of use in Ayurvedic medicine, most health-savvy consumers are still unaware of just how concentrated it truly is. Second is the dermis layer that lies below the epidermis. As it is beneath the epidermis hence dermis is not visible. Dermis serves very important function in the protective and perceptive role that skin plays. It serves many functions, as it possesses nerves ending, vascular supplies and glands (both oil or sebaceous glands and sweat glands). Due to presence of these factors we can perceive the touch sensation. Vascularity to the skin initiates in dermis and hence helps in providing proper nourishment to the skin cells.Application and consumption of amla has an astonishing effect on hair and skin. Hair that has already gone grey can be reverted back to their original color by drinking any green vegetable juice in which 2-3 amla fruits have been crushed. Else dried amla powder mixed with water can be consumed. Amla juice also helps revive the elasticity of skin.
